Falcon Pro Scott Dean of Terrell, Texas won the ABA Bassmaster Weekend Series South Central Regional on Lake Dardanelle in Arkansas. The tournament, which was held October 10th-11th, pairs the top 200 boater and non-boater qualifiers within their respective divisions. The top finishers advance to the ABA Weekend Series Nationals on Lake Norman, North Carolina on November 12th-15th, 2008. The top finisher at the Nationals will earn a birth at the 2009 Bassmasters Classic in Shreveport. Louisiana in February.
For his efforts, Scott won a fully rigged Triton 18 Explorer bass boat rigged with a Mercury Optimax motor valued at $24,000, $2,500 cash, and $5,000 in Triton Gold contingency money. He caught a two total of 22.69 lbs. Scotts winning pattern was cranking a Chartreuse Black Lucky Craft RC 2.5 square billed crankbait over stumps off a creek channel bend in the back end of Illinois Bayou. He also caught a few key fish flipping a Double ZZ brand custom hand poured BZZ creature bait on isolated stumps. For the crankbait, he used a Falcon Cara CC 4-17 rod.
